Dr. James Kraft is the
full-time veterinarian and owner of the hospital—the Lawrence Humane
Society voted him Lawrence’s Veterinarian of the Year in 2004! He is shown above with LVH's house cat, Charmin!
Education and Background
His interest in veterinary medicine began at age 14 while working for
mentor and family friend, Dr. Chuck Olsen in Salina, Kansas.
He attended the University of Kansas and Kansas State University to
earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, graduating from Kansas
State University in 1979.
Following a short stint practicing in Phoenix, Arizona he moved to
Paris, Texas to practice with his brother and fellow veterinarian,
Wally Kraft, DVM. In 1981 he returned to Lawrence to establish Lawrence
Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Kraft is happily married to his wife Christine and shares
